The majority of my collection is stored in 2x2s. I don't really collect loonies and toonies, but have a few I've put away over the years. The problem is that I find the aurate seems to darken in these holders. Has anyone else had this problem? What do you store your loonies and toonies in?

Hi, chequer, yes, I have noticed that also, I have put away UNC Loonies in 2x2s and noticed after a year or so they seem to darken some, I don't know if it is the metal in the Loonies that causes it, doesn't seem to bother the other coins.

You guys are making me nervous. I just cut open 10 prooflike sets to complete my loonie collection. Put them all in 2x2's maybe its simply the air that changes the colour. They do seem to tone quickly.

Are you using the stapled 2X2s or the self-adhesive?

I used stapled 2x2's. The longest one of my loonies has been in is maybe 3 months and still looks great. Fingers crossed. Maybe I need to keep them in a humidor. Lol

When I staple my 2x2s I make sure that there aren't any huge air pockets. Pinch, staple, ply! Old dealer 2x2s are usually quick-stapled and they turn a nasty brown, or they use a size that is too large for the coin being preserved. For those I restore them in new 2x2s.
