I don't know if "fake" would be the correct term for these as they were made for a specific purpose and have markings that differ from the original design that would differentiate them from the ones minted at the US Mint. I think maybe copy of the design for jewelery purposes may be a better term as these weren't made to either circulate nor fool collectors of coins, that is why they are clearly marked with the Chinese characters instead of leaving them off to make them look exactly like the original design
