So you can still contact anyone by doing an advanced search by bidder.
How do you find someone as cryptic as "m***k (290)"

I already tried finding this m***k (290) so don't waste your time on that tonight.
You'll have to wait for that item to receive feedback or get feedback from the seller. Match the listing description to the members name. In the listing that has ended, this "m***k (290)" may have been bidding on similar items.
In this case, I did a search on STATER CORINTH PEGAS PEGASUS looking for completed items where a bidder had around 290 feedback.
Often times ebay masks the name but still leaves a couple actual letters in it.
Then check the feedback rec and left by the seller.

This is just an example.
It is much easier doing a search for somebody who bid on something a bit more specific than ancient coins. Perhaps you can solve it easier for somebody who is bidding on or had bid on MAB GRIPS with around 1207 feedback.
( In this case feedback has not been left yet but you can bookmark the listing for later )

Like I said, it takes some thinking and some leg work but it can be done.

Just for fun, if I remember, and feel like following through to make the point, I can and might eventually find out who this bidder "m***k (290)" was and I will know what they are shopping for a little ways down the road. that is if feedback gets left.

Yeah--that is what I expected would be required to find this person. Well, I may just track down whomever is the highest bidder...I suspect this one will close over $200, and that irks me.

That would be ideal, but the report forms supplied by ebay do not allow any kind of html.

Not for them, but for some of us who don't quite see the difference. I took the original post as a photo of a known counterfeit being compared to the coin in question.

I wouldn't blindly report anything like this to ebay or anybody else

Educate me, that's why I'm here.

This auction got up to $237.50, but ended happily thanks to all concerned. ebay just contacted me:

"Thanks for reporting this listing to us.
I sent your report to our Coin Community Watch group for their review and they agreed with your assessment. As a result, I removed the listing."

Score one for the team!
