If one was inclined to hoard modern circulating coins (eg. 2009 Lincoln cents, 2009/10(?) nickels, etc) that are believed to appreciate in value over the course of decades, how should one store them?

Would inside of those paper coin rolls, inside one's own house, suffice?

The paper rolls can produce toning - of course you may want that. You can buy non-reactive plastic tubes, but depending on how much you're hoarding that could get expensive. Heck, if you're not going to be moving them around a lot, I'd just put 'em in a big jar.

Put them in a screw jar, along with a couple of small bags of silica gel.

There are hoardes, and there are hoardes. Closeset I've come to one is about 200 rolls of '09 nics, box finds for the most.
They're in plastic tubes, nothing special. Very tiny stash. In the true sense, some hoardes number in the millions.
(think Binion) My family trust has maybe 20,000 oz. of siver, accumulated in '65, that's untouchable. They're in canvas sacks.

So storing each denomination, homogeneous and loose in a Mason jar, with those silica gel packets that you can get from (where?) would be sufficient, then?

If you really want to preserve coins for a long, long time, do as someone did with this coin:
On-The-Storage-Of-Hoards...
It has looked exactly the same for many, many years and will still look the same in a hundred years. Now if you take all those ones you want to hoard and do like that one, you'll have them looking the same in many, many, many years.
Or just put them all in those plastic tubes.
