Well I am 3 days away from the coin show and I STILL haven't made up my mind between the 1921D Walking Liberty and a gold coin.

I guess I will have to wait and see whats available when I get there.

there are some nice small mexican gold coins. you can get them for around 15 dollars at a dealer. I dont really know anything about foreign money so I never bought one

Unless you're talking about something I'm unfamiliar with, "nice small mexican gold coins" (smaller than dimes) are 2 and 2.5 peso, and they haven't been $15 since 1974 or so. You should be able to pick one up today for a picture of Ben.

Get a slabbed $5 numismatic gold coin.....get precious metal content and history

The Half Eagles have the most gold content for your buck as well as having some numismatic value to cushion against a retreat in gold bullion markets. A Indian Quarter Eagle (common date) could be had for $400-500 in the lower MS grades.

Well, I went to the coin show yesterday and there were only 6 tables set up and one of those had all paper money. The only gold coins that I saw were a couple of 1/10th ounce modern pieces, which I didn't even ask the price of.

I did see a 1921D Walking Liberty, unslabbed that he was asking $280.00 for but said he would take $260.00 which I thought was still to high so I politely passed.

From the same seller I purchased a 1904S Morgan for my collection....

First-Gold-Coin?

First-Gold-Coin?

Also picked up this 1894-O Morgan....

First-Gold-Coin?

First-Gold-Coin?

Nothing special I know but I didn't want to come home empty handed. Also bought a 2000 ASE for the Dansco. Thought long and hard about a 1888-S from the same dealer that I bought the 1904-S from, but it had a gouge on Anna's face that I could see with a naked eye but it did have that dark patina that I really like but the gouge won over and I passed.

All in all I had a good time, looked around for about 3 hours visiting all 5 coin tables at least 3 times some of them more. I thought there would be about the same amount of dealers as last year, 20 or so, but that was not the case. The hunt continues.
Rest in Peace

The 94-o is a textbook example of how a circ coin should look, the 04-s less so.

I agree, the 94-O caught my eye as soon as I saw it. The 04-S is a little darker than the 94-O but not as bad as my terrible pictures show. Both pictures were taken at the same place I just blocked the sunlight from hitting the 04-S.

I need to quit spending my money on coins and spend some on photo taking lessons.

Attractive purchases and it's just as well you didn't settle for anything less than you wanted. Save up again and the right gold coin will come along. Patience ....
