What little I knew about 'AD' coins, became 'I don't know nothing' when your thread dropped below 'BC' Steve. So from here on out I'm a spectator in awe! With that said, that is one graphic statue . Maybe something Michael Angelo might have created? BTW the coin is cool too!

This way out of my area of collecting. The only comment that I can make is that it is another beautiful coin.

Your Amisos AE looks like a stylistic blend of Greek and Roman styles. It's a really nice example!

When I went to page 17 of this thread and saw the statue of Perseus I was sure that the coin in question was one of my favorite Greeks and from Amisos. While the coin shown was nice, keep on the lookout for a decent specimen of the Amisos showing Perseus holding the severed head of Medusa with the body at his feet gushing blood from the neck. My specimen is tight at the bottom so the gory part is weak. Most of these are either weak at the bottom or missing the head of the hero. Nice ones with all clear should be bought when found. This one is better: http://www.acsearch.info/record.html?id=467384
