dougsmit => awesome coin!! (I will definitely pull the trigger if I come across Perseus with severed head in hand) ... => ummmmm, but it looks a bit more like an early "bowling" coin => Perseus, ball-in-hand, waiting to complete his spare!!

The obverse refers to the the cult of Juno Sospita at Lanuvium, the moneyer's place of origin.
The reverse is likely a play on the moneyer's name, Taurus sounding like Thorius. C icero described L. Thorius Balbus as a man who lived in such a manner that there was not a single pleasure, however refined or rare, that he did not enjoy.

Quote: Juno is an ancient Roman goddess, the protector and special counselor of the state. She is a daughter of Saturn and sister (but also the wife) of the chief god Jupiter and the mother of Mars and Vulcan. Juno also looked after the women of Rome. Her Greek equivalent is Hera. As the patron goddess of Rome and the Roman Empire she was called Regina ("queen") and, together with Jupiter and Minerva, was worshipped as a triad on the Capitol (Juno Capitolina) in Rome. Quote: Juno's own warlike aspect among the Romans is apparent in her attire. She often appeared sitting pictured with a peacock, armed and wearing a goatskin cloak. The traditional depiction of this warlike aspect was assimilated from the Greek goddess Athena, whose goatskin was called the 'aegis'.

Aaaah! Pucks! And they use roller skates to chase them down the court with rackets? Thanks biggfredd for setting me straight. Nice coin Steve. One thing that I have seen on several reverses from the BC era, including one on a Julius Caesar denarius is the 'Bull.' What deity or significance does that represent if any? Anyone knows?

Quote: Roman Empire Tauroctony of Mithras: The bull is one of the animals associated with the late Hellenistic and Roman syncretic cult of Mithras, in which the killing of the astral bull, the tauroctony, was as central in the cult as the Crucifixion was to contemporary Christians.
