NOTE => that curly-que squiggle behind Roma's head is apparently a "lituus"Quote: The medieval musical instrument called a lituus is a long, slender horn. It is similar in tone and function to a trumpet. The instrument was last in common use during the Middle Ages, and was not seen or heard again until a team of researchers recreated the instrument in 2009 Quote: Since there are no known surviving examples of a medieval lituus, the exact appearance and sound is unknown. However, researchers have been able to rely on depictions of the instrument to approximate its characteristics. Quote: The lituus was a cult instrument in Roman religion, used by augurs to mark out a ritual space in the sky (a templum). The passage of birds through this templum indicated divine favor or disfavor for a given undertaking. ... once again, I've learnt a new word that I can use to impress my wife (or at least irritate her a wee bit)

bobbyhelmet => 10,000 viewers ... ummmm, would that be a good thing, or a bad thing?
... I am still fairly new to the ol' ancient section, so I certainly didn't mean to ruffle too many feathers!! (I think jwharper said it best when he compared my "style" to a racoon discovering beer for the first time!!)
... man, that still makes me laugh!!

Quote: ummmm, would that be a good thing, or a bad thing? Good thing Steve - I remember when we went days without a single post here and we only had about 5 regular posters, over the last 12 months traffic has grown considerably and we may even soon need a few sub-forums to help 'order' the growing number of posts

Hi BLUESZONE ... Yah, last night's overtime loss was pretty tough to watch ... and thanks for the band-wagon offer, but my wife is a hard-core Bruins fan, so I've already switched hats and I'm obediently sitting beside her ... => *sniffle, sniffle ... "go bruins" ... sniffle, sigh*

As usual another great coin and history lesson Steve. I envisioned you a Maple Leafs or Canadiens kind of guy for some reason. Are you from western Canada? I'm not much of a hockey fan, but being from the northwest (I can look across to Victoria on a clear day from where I live.) I was for the Canucks as well. Too bad. Next year. LA seems like a distant country to me. (Now I'll get hate mail from the Angelenos ) Keep'um coming Steve!

I know your pain. I'm a Red Wings fan (boo hoo - we'll be back), but my son is a Caps fan. So now I guess I'll have to go for the Caps. Oh, were we suppose to be talkin' about coins? Yeah, yeah, nice coin (sniff).

I knew there was connection between us man! (wasn't coins, 'cause yours are much nicer than mine ) Victoria is a beautiful city Steve. My wife and I go over there when we can. People there are great! I love landscape photography and spend a lot of time finding the shot, here on the Olympic Peninsula. When I was over in Victoria one time we got up early and made a run west to the Fisgard Lighthouse and took this picture: Ok, ok I know that has nothing to do with coins, but thought I'd share it with you because you could appreciate it like I did when I was there. I can't remember the name of the park that it was in, but it was a very cool place. Oh, BTW, did I say your coin was cool also

Steve I though you had two of the same coin. I was going to ask you if I could have the second one. Nice picture oxos. I spent over 20 years in the military first the Navy for five year and then Coast Guard for 16 years, from wich I retired. I was the lighthouse keeper for six lighthouses on the Southern California coast. So needless to say I like them.
