Ummm, maybe you can read this one? (sorry, but I still don't have my home computer and my camera up-n-running yet)

NOTE => David Sear does mention that the coin has been cleaned and pollished and that it has a bit of surface corrosion (but I still think that this coin "rocks!")

I've been reading this thread and it's been fairly interesting. You must be loaded in order to get all these coins. lol

How long have you been collecting ancient coins?

I bet you have some pretty cool images of lighthouses then echizento? This is a coin forum and not a photo one, but I love lighthouses and have taken pictures of most of the northern lighthouses in Washington and most of them along the coast of Oregon. I wanted to go as far as California, but haven't gotten there yet. Thanks for the thumbs up guys!

I wonder if there is any lighthouse reverses on any Romans or Greeks?

As usual Steve your new coin ROCKS, polished or not! I think all of us are quite envious of your collection. I know I am . Keep um' coming!

Steve, you got a lot of good info on this coin from David Sear--glad to hear it checks out!
Did he have anything to say about the Athens owl tetradrachm--does he conform what Dr. Prokopov said?

Dionysus was the god of the grape harvest, winemaking and wine, of ritual madness and ecstasy in Greek mythology.

Quote:
He is a major, popular figure of Greek mythology and religion, and is included in some lists of the twelve Olympians. His festivals were the driving force behind the development of Greek theatre.

Quote:
The earliest cult images of Dionysus show a mature male, bearded and robed. He holds a fennel staff, tipped with a pine-cone and known as a thyrsus. Later images show him as a beardless, sensuous, naked or half-naked androgynous youth: the literature describes him as womanly or "man-womanish".
