Almost looks it may be from India, but I have no idea. Just my wild guess.

Welcome treasure2012!

Holy cow! You must have been surprised when you found those. I think on the top in the first photo are Indian temple tokens. The rest are unknown to me. I'll e-mail our member drnsrheedar as he can help you out the most.

Can you post a photo of each coin individually and each side, thanks.

You're in the UK. Why is it weird to find a coin from ANY colonized country?

Thank you Apollo for the e-mail. The coins are for sure Indian. I have tried to identify them as much as possible from the single side image available.

Any-Ideas-What-There-Are?

images 1,2 and 4 are charms. Image no.3 could possibly be a coin of "sangha period"(1-3. Centuries) issued by Cheras (if you see a bow and arrow on the other side) or Pandyas (if you see a stylised fish on the other side).

Coin no.s 8 and 10 are Bahmani coins. No. 10 is Ahmad shah.

All other coins are Mughal issues. No.5 is Ahmad shah,12 is a copper issue from Elichpur mint and 13,15 and 16 are coins issued from Surat mint, name of the ruler being on the other side. With larger images of both the sides, almost all the coins can be precisely identified.

In the other photograph with a heap of coins, they are mostly of Mysore, Wodeyar period. They can be identified from Krause's book on South Asian coins and paper money.

Hope this was helpful. Happy digging!
