Hello,

I find this phenomenon to be interesting since these scratches do not continue onto and do not touch the head of the president at all.

Their presence remains only on the field of the coin and all of them are parallel to each other.

It is doubtful that PMD created this pattern since IMHO an external causative agent would have had to at least nicked the pres.'s rear head/neck.

As it now they perfectly outline the rear of the head/neck without causing a bad hair day for the pres.

What do we have here and is it worth anything $wise?

Thanks,
mdpmedia

Either the die was scuffed by feeder fingers, or it was abraded by a mint worker to remove damage or clash marks. It's fairly common and has no extra value.
