Thought this 1981 has a real weird color. Normal color 1982 for comparison.

It might have been plated or doctored? Hard to tell what you get in circulation now days.

You're probably right coop. Lotta funny coins out there. Thought mine mitta been one of those brass cents I've read about.

Look on YouTube for a video regarding "making gold and silver pennies"..it is quite enlightening and probably what you are seeing

How is the rim? On nearly all of the silver and gold colored plated pennies I've come across nearly all of them had copper showing through on the rim even if both sides were perfectly plated.

Actually the rim looks like a montage of various colors red, yellow, brassy, green, etc. Maybe the light shining off of it makes it look funny.

I have found 3 of these recently. Some look better than others but they are all very close in color to this one. The process in that youtube video is very interesting.

I found a bunch of these in a couple boxes recently. I kept the really nice ones, but I guess it's technically PMD.
