It would probably be good for errors and varieties, but I doubt it could take a picture of a crown sized coin.

I'd say no, not for coins, you don't want a staged microscope, you want a stereo scope. Way too much magnification, these types of microscopes are designed with the intention of the subject being transparent or sliced thin and placed between a slide and cover slip. The best light for them comes from under the subject, that wouldn't work on a coin, it's too thick, and not transparent.

My good friend is Celestron's US Sales manager, and I have sold a lot of the Celestron products, heck I even own a bunch, binoculars (8x40 & 9x56), telescope (C-11") and a USB #44300 microscope). While not a digital model this is closet to what you want: http://www.celestron.com/science_ed...roscope.html

For a small digital unit look at http://www.celestron.com/science_ed...roscope.html The other model with the stand is also nice.

I'm not sure any of the ones I posted could shoot a crown sized coin in a single shot, I can't fit an entire US Morgan dollar 38.1mm diameter, but it's great for close ups and die varieties.

The USB one I have is discontinued now, and wasn't any where near as good as the newer models.

For my stereoscope I have a LW Achiever http://www.optcorp.com/product.aspx?pid=94-95-1142
I bought it from the site I listed, I also worked there for several years, great shop!

I'm looking for small unit with adjustable LEDs and snap switch on the cable.I'm not able to spend over 300$ for Dino-Light but I don't want to waste 80-100$ for something useless.Any recommendations? What is quality of depth in Celestron's?
