The latest addition to The Black Cabinet:

http://fakes.numismetrica.com/2012/...1-1963-0001/

No joke! :-)

(Well, it really *is* a joke, when you think about it, as someone had the brass to do it in the first place. Only this one is made of steel...)

That would look good in a Chinese knock off 7070 album.

After viewing this I now believe that the "CC" is a play on the United States to have one think of "Carson City", when in reality it's stamped on the coin to show the true meaning, "China Crap"...

Yes, in fact when it comes to counterfeits, I suggest the following mint mark interpretation schedule:

P = Phoney
D = Duped
S = [redacted]
C = Crap
CC = Chinese Crap
O = "O RLY!"
W = WT[redacted]

:-)

Good one! Definitely no need to stamp "COPY" on a 1963 CC.

Excellent link! Thank you for sharing. I've added the Black Cabinet to my resource list.

I tried to share a similar link last week but it was taken down.

@CaptainFwiffo - Ahh, the CF-S$1-1900-0001. :-)

Heh I always keep one of those on my desk simply because I like to have the walking Liberty motif in a form that I don't need to worry about mishandling. :-)

Wow, that is one of the coins I am missing in my CC dollar set. Good thing I have 2 1797 CC Trade dollars if you want to trade.

@jfransch - Hehe unfortunately I only have one specimen of the 1963 in my stacks. If I had a spare, I'd love to trade as although I *do* have a "1797 Trade dollar" I don't have a 1797-CC. :-)

Would you be up for having that one added to The Black Cabinet's image archives at least? :-)

If you're going to include this, be sure to put Daniel Carr's 1964 Peace dollars on there too. There's no difference. You're too gung ho dude. You suggested a perfectly legitimate PCGS graded error coin go on there the other day.
