What's the spot price where everyone decides to stop adding silver to their horde and start thinking sell?

I'm thinking of adding a few more ounces to my horde at some point this year or next with my spare/recycling cash in addition to some purchases toward my paper wish-list I will be making this month.

Fifty for most, seventy five for others, and even there after many would not even consider it until 100 dollar an oz. silver....

I don't waste my time listing an item at 99.99 for example, like the buyer is not gonna know they are spending a hundred bucks, whats a penny in this world, minus a 1931-s or 1909 VDB, lol. My point I like even numbers. When I go into a restaurant an I see an item priced at 15 even Steven as is all their items priced on even numbers, I know I will enjoy that restaurant, lol...

Notice most all storage auctions jump in 50 an 100 increments, unless it is bottoming out an they will take 25 more most of the time....

Last year silver raised to within 20 cents of fifty, an fell back down faster then Jack an Jill rolling down the hill all the way to 32 bucks per oz....

Next time it gets close, again about like betting a hundred grand on the coin flip at the superbowl, anyones guess which way it goes there after. If it does breach 50, I may hold off till 60 or 75, but doubt it, as I am buying an selling all the time, regardless of spot price....

I will be buying always I think. More at certain points in time and selling will occur when I see large spikes in the spot prices since chances are that price would not be able to be sustainable which would allow me to buy back in at a cheaper price. I think silver will continue to rise always as reserves dissapear, fiat is created and people become reaquainted with the investment value in silver. I think we will always see spikes up followed by downtrends and repeat but always continually rising. I hold my silver long term as long as I can. CHEERS!

That probably depends on the individual and why they bought silver in the 1st place. For me, that would be around $75 or so and then only if I thought that I could buy it back later on for less.

Good question! I seldom am lucky enough to buy silver anywhere near the spot price due to what I collect (world proofs), but at $45-50 spot, the prices of everything else tends to rise, as well. I didn't buy an ounce of silver during the big rise and will not do so again if silver crests $50. That's the main reason why I hope silver stays where it is or even shoots down $10 or more. I just don't have the funds to buy silver at or near the record prices it hit last year. Of course, I know there will come a day when silver spikes beyond my means. I just hope when that happens it will continue to rise exponentially and not level out again and remain stuck going sideways in a tight price range like it has for the last few months. So, I'm rooting for silver at $20-35 or silver at $200+.

I am with you T on the hope for 20 an oz., and I like the nicer stuff as well, proofs an such....

Gov an powers to be are gonna mess around an keep it low or lower, and that will backfire one day when all the hoarders NOT SELLING an adding more will tip the scales, combined with always rising diesel and industrial demand....

Well I do hope it drops down to $25 ... and gold drops to 1400 ...but that's just hopes. Asians are buying PM like crazy. Any drop makes them add more and more. So I see no other way than join them and add PM consistently.

That's a good plan, B. It works quite well with blue chip stocks, just ask Ed, and you can safely apply the same lessons to PMs. I can't tell you how lucky I got with silver. I'd been hearing for years that, as a prepper, one should buy bullets, band-aids, bulk foods, and booze. And when one has enough of the other four things, add bullion to the list. It wasn't until Sept. 2008 that I finally heeded a wise man's advice and bought my first 24 oz. of silver for $300. Why was I lucky? Silver had just" crashed from $21 to around $9 and it stayed in the teens for the next two years! In that period, I was able to amass 750 oz. and my price per ounce was well under $20, which was awesome considering the fact that about half my collection is spot silver, as I call it, with the other half consisting of more expensive proofs. Unfortunately, cheap silver spoiled me. I got out of the market for a 1 1/2 years and worked on my other preps while silver shot up to nearly $50. And it was not until it went back below $30 that I jumped in again. I'm still trying to reach that magic plateau of 1000 oz. I'm stuck around 925, at the moment. But if you can afford it, there are few better strategies than dollar cost averaging.

Heh heh... you and me both, Trae.

I've been looking at some nice 1-oz. JM silver bars and some VF Morgan dollars. Both look real good to me and I am having a hard time deciding which to get. I may well have to split it somehow and get some of each.
