I been poking in the coin forums in and out for the pass 6 weeks with short responses, and little time for my other numismatic activities, missed my last month local show due to work.

I order my APMEX Mercury dimes bag of one thousand, thinking that a past forum member had good review for the Barber quarters or halves the member received from APMEX. Anyhow, I got my bag earlier last week and I opened it to check the contents of my order to be sure, and just lay aside until today finally got the chance to check it out, let me say that the mix dates aren't as spread out as some of the other lots I bought from other, but being mostly a bullion lot I can expect what I can't expect from each bags.

As for qualities, the average for the 40's are in VF-EF, a few AU's, and anything below the 20's you can for sure know that it wold be fair to good at best, these bags that APMEX sales are searched by sellers before selling to to AMPEX for sure, but my thoughts are that rather investing in silver stocks or actual 1 oz. bullion coins, let me take the chance and see what other may have missed, so to my surprise, here is what I found and the jackpot for this lot...

1942/41 D

I think it would grade VF-25.

1941 S Large S

This one is in AU for sure.

A 1943 S Over S RPM in about EF

Also found another 1942 S inverted S in about F-15 grade, not as good as the one I found over a year ago, plus a few early dates that are in F-VF grades, I will post those once I get the chance, and thought if anyone here will also order from APMEX would like to post their review here also?

I am happy that it was the 42/41-D instead, as I have the 42/41-P years ago in EF-40 graded by ANACS.

This lot had many 1940-45 PDS, but I couldn't find a single 45 micro S, so you all know what to expect from those who sell to APMEX, the seller must of been tire that day to missed the over date!

Great find.

I found one years ago in a junk silver batch.

Several dealers told me that I was wrong.

Now sitting in an NGC XF-45 slab, also CAC'ed.

@ TreasHunt,

XF-45 is tough to miss! Those dealers must have some kind of impairing vision, or maybe trying to buy cheap off of you. Do you have pictures?

Sweet! I may have been the one who inspired you, after finding a 1897-0 Barber half in my $100 face value bag. If so, I'm thrilled you also had some good luck!

@ davisfad,
I honestly don't think that is worth much, "ARSAVE" another forum member has one graded MS-63 by PCGS is selling for $300, if yours is in similar condition than I think it would be much less, although this can change if there's demand for it.

@ barrg,
Nice find! I think I got lucky with my bag also, but I will have second thoughts about buying another bag any time soon from APMEX. Have you bought any more bag(s) from APMEX?

@macmercury: I bought a $100 bag of Barber halves and another $100 bag of Walking Liberty halves. Nothing special in the Walking Liberty halves, but I did get them at a really great price so that's OK. I was primarily buying them as bullion.
