I also need it at face value. How do banks get those rolls? Are the rolls sent randomly or do they order them?

getting these 2012 penny rolls for face value are like getting old Silver coins for face value; you need to be very lucky & at right time at right place.
everyone is grabbing 2012 penny rolls and getting around $10 a roll for them now, but if mint keeps making them until August producing more then prices should fall.
It's like the special 2009 USA Lincoln Log Cabin cents...for first month out they were going for $20 each roll, but as supply grew they now go for about $3 roll. Remember that saying...Good things happen to those who wait! prices will fall as more are made.

I would just ask my bank to order 2012 pennies directly from the mint.

Picked up a mint-packed box of 2012 1-cent coins for face value from my bank.

The same thing will happen to certified coins. I have watched three recent auctions of 2012 ICCS MS66 magnetic cents. They went for $35, $36 and $51. I predict that there will be lots to go around. I am guessing in six months the MS66 cents will be lucky to get $20 and there will MS67s to be had fpr $30. I predict that the hoarding of MS 2012 cents will exceed the hoarding of any other year ever.

The thing I am scared of is buying a roll for ten dollars and they will make 2012 all through the year and just not make 2013. Or they will make it until September or August which leave January to August which would be 8 months to make pennies which would be a lot of pennies. I do not think it would be worth much unless it was an error but just incase I will pick up a box for face value at a bank or order one but I think at the end of the year a roll three dollars tops.

I read somewhere online right after the Federal Budget was released saying that the Mint will stop producing pennies by the end of March. I just cannot find that link at the moment. Even this is the case, there still will be many BU rolls out there. I grabbed a few simply for its sentimental value.

The Mint in Winnipeg is wrapping up production of the 2012 penny sometime this month.
The first 2 months of 2012 the penny was Magnetic. The second 2 months the penny is Non-Magnetic
An unknown coin dealer out East has purchased 5000 or 50000 boxes (forgot how many zeros) from the mint, that might limit the amount of new boxes floating around.

I will call around to banks to see if any have a couple loose bran new rolls or a box full. Personally don't want a box because it is heavey and takes up room and I do not know where to put it but I will find a place.

I searched and searched for a box of 2012 pennies, at every bank in town. Finally, I had the TD branch order me a box from the Bank of Canada.

you guys in ottawa always got the first dip:). I went to RBC yesterday and only got 2 rolls of junk penny, 1/10 of them are US penny. I also exchanges 2 rolls of nickel, interestingly, one roll is dated between 1961-1980, the other 2000-2012, seems someone sorted them already
