So I picked up a 1987 prooflike set at my local coin shop today for $2 (American), which isn't bad considering face is $1.91 Canadian.

I'm curious if anybody could provide some answers about the composition of the Voyageur dollar in this set, though. I'm having difficulty finding anything about it other than that up to 1967 was 80% silver and 1968-86 was 99.99% nickel, but nothing on 1987 (where this is pretty much the only thing they were struck for). Anybody have any ideas?

I thought it would be nickel, but glad to get a definite answer.

Thanks!

I think I'm happy to keep it. First Canadian set I've ever bought, as opposed to random coins popping up in my change.

1987 was the last year for the "voyageur' dollr as well, and it was only available in sets. Great set!

It is my second Voyageur, too. I have a 1966 in my collection as well.
