I have a 2004 £1 coin with the cannon on the reverse, celebrating 1704-2004. The strike appears weak like some UK forgeries I have seen. There is no edge inscription.

Should this coin have an edge inscription like the UK £1 coins? Have foregeries of them been reported?

Thanks

I believe it's just reeded edge without any inscription.

I doubt counterfeiters would target Gibraltar pounds for circulation (not big enough volume). Other reasons (collectors)? Not improbable.

Gibraltar coins are struck at the Tower mint - they are often of poorer quality than those struck by The Royal Mint.

Can confirm the edge is reeded no inscription.
