Hello all! I decided to give a box of dimes a shot! First roll, 1964! Score!

But question... I feel like there are a lot of coins that are off center, doubled (machine or not) etc etc..

Are dimes just less detailed and more likely to have errors than the usual cents, quarters and halves that I've been searching?

I'm putting everything suspect aside. Pics to follow when the box is done!

COngrats!

Slightly misaligned dies (MADs) are very common. Machine Doubling is very common as well. Niether are worth a premium, unless the error is severe.

So in this box, 2 Mercury dimes! 3 Silver Roosevelt!

Dime-Errors....is-It-Just-Me?

This one looks and feels particularly odd to me. It has a porous grain like feel to it. It isn't quite satin, and it is not shiny at all... it also feels significantly lighter than a dime in comparison.

and lastly look at these two! the one on the left looks like the D is a filled in O, and the one on the right, what year is it?! LOL

These two looks like there is some die errors.. on the left in person it almost looks concave, and has basically no edge. The one on the right is off center and looks like the edge is doubled.. whats going on with these?

I think the one on the left was rolling around in a dryer. That's why the edge is missing, basically. There is another thread around here with good pictures of Dryer Coins.
Rest in Peace

An off centered error is struck out of the collar so on a dime there will be no reeding on the edge since it is the collar that applies the reeding. Does your 1991 have reeding? If it does then the 2 dies were just not perfectly in line with each other which is not uncommon. When it is to the point where part of the die is off the coin then it is a MAD error and has a small premium. I do see a slight collar clash on the 1991 at the 3:00 position but this is also very common and does not carry a premium.
