Anyone here want to start a formal thread for people interested in swapping boxes of coin to expand our roll searching enjoyment? It could be as simple as a even value swap so no money changes hands ( other than the coins obviously) . I just think it would be fun from time to time to search some Canadian coin. The model could go something like....
One 25$ U.S. box of cents for one $25 box of Canadian cents where each party pays the shipping so it all evens out in the end.
Could even be just a west coast east coast thing as well. Anything to expand the interest of this hobby would be a good thing!

No problem. I just wanted to make sure before everyone started turning this thread into the swap meet.

Anyone know cost...One 25$ U.S. box of cents for one $25 box of Canadian cents where each party pays the shipping? What is ship cost for a 15 lb box of cents to Canada & from Canana? If we could find someone that lives in US/ works in Canada or lives in Canada/works in US everyday, it would save cost!

This is just a thread to get a feeling on general interest. I will not be moved, but it could be locked if abused. It will probably be best for those interested to create a post in the " want to trade" forum. I do not see how having just one thread will work since it could add an unnecessary layer of confusion. This is just my opinion, not an official request. Other moderators may have a different opinion.

I would be fun since I just started a Canada small cent set and need a lot of 80'-12' cents but I have a feeling you would double the price trying to ship across the border. Does anyone know if the flat rate boxes a USPS will cross the border? Only other choice would be penny4Mes idea of finding someone to bring some back across for us.

I realize there would be an added shipping expense, but I see no other way of doing iut in a practical way. For me the added cost wouldn't slow me down. It is the enjoyment of trying something different that makes it worth it to me

Looks like postage would run around $32 for a box of cents or anything else up to 20 pounds

I live about 25 miles across river from Windsor, ON Canada. But between $4 gal gas one-way & $4 toll one-way to go across river, it would be $4+4+4+4 = $16 trip to go get 4 boxes. I read that there is a $100 coin limit allowed to transfer out of Canada. for a postage cost around $32 for a box of cents, it's better just to go buy the coin you are looking for.

You could probably get almost 1/2 box of 5c in a small priority. That's not much of a sting. (5.15) Phillys are really difficult to find in Idaho. I think your onto something. Even swapping roll to roll would be nice.

I would be interested in doing either canada or west coast for halfs or nickels. Let me know if it goes up on the trade section or PM me. I dont want to violate the rules, but this seems cool. Thanks, Jon

Only issue I would have is that Canada Shipping is much more expensive. I wish Canada Post had flat rate shipping boxes. Just to get an idea...I took the weight of a box of cents...entered in the dimensions and choose Texas for a test location. The only 2 shipping option available for the package would be:
Xpresspostâ„¢ - USA 3 to 4 business days $73.46 Prepaid Options Delivery Confirmation Incl. Signature Option Incl. Rate Summary Base Price $65.30 Coverage* $Update $0.00 Fuel Surcharge $8.16 Options $0.00 Tax $0.00 Total $73.46
*Coverage Details: Up to $100.00 included. Maximum $1,000.00 @ $2.00 per $100.00.
And:
Expedited Parcelâ„¢ - USA 5 to 6 business days $42.84 Prepaid Options Delivery Confirmation Incl. Rate Summary Base Price $39.85 Coverage* $Update $0.00 Fuel Surcharge $2.99 Options $0.00 Tax $0.00 Total $42.84
*Coverage Details: Up to $100.00 included. Maximum $1,000.00 @ $2.00 per $100.00.
Over all...it would not really be worth shipping the coins out. Someone would be better off to take the $67.84 and buy what coins they want or need on the bay or from members here that have them for sale.
Lucky for me my pops lives about 2 hours from me in the states and brings me coins when he comes. :)

Oh well.....I just thought it would be fun regardless of the expense....for me it isn't about finding a particular coin....it is the fun of the hunt!
