Alright, this is a first for me posting, not only pictures but a post of any kind. Hopefully everything comes through alright, I'm not sure on a grade for this coin, in hand the luster looks a lot better than the pictures show, though the color is roughly the same. Help would be appreciated!
I think this is a proof that escaped captivity. The rims look squared off and the steps are so unusually perfect for a normal 1961 Philly. I think this grades impaired proof PF53 or PF55.
Almost definitely a circulated Proof. Even the photo shows, especially in front of Jefferson's face, some original Proof surfaces. Plus, the rims look squared, which is another telltale sign the coin is Proof.
See, that's what I wasn't sure of. I'm still learning how to identify the older proofs, and I'm still somewhat confused. The newer ones are easy but it gets tricky for me on the old ones.
I figured I had a winner here with the steps, but now that you guys mention that it's a proof, the steps seem alot more explainable.
