Another of last month's acquisitions. It's my fourth Byzantine coin. One of the nice things about it IMO is that it has full legends, which helped in my decision to purchase it.

Again, if you want to attribute, go ahead.

I love these large Byzantine coins. DN IVSINIANVS PP AVG/CON. It appears to be Sear# 158, Constantinople mint, I can't make out the officina letter though.

Yep, these big ol' byzantines are always some of my favourites. I always try to get as full an inscription as I can on them; it can help attribution immensesly. Looks like 1st or 4th officina, I'd guess. Nice one!

My mistake you are right, in my haste to comment I made a stupid mistake which is usual for me. Now that I have the right one I'll go with Sear #62.

That is a really nice coin. One day I will purchase one. Perhaps this Anastasius I coin that I was looking at a couple of months ago. What is the size and weight of the coin?

It is 31 mm wide, and unfortunately I don't have anything to weigh it with, but what I do know is that it is a little lighter than my Justinian I, which weighs 17.11 g.

Thanks stevex6, yeah, you might find yourself drifting in that direction lol, kind of how I did. I started with Romans but now I also collect a little bit of Byzantine on the side when I find ones that I really like.
