I dont think anyone does, the only reason would be to hope to resell at a later date for more

Last week I received a 2012 silver proof set with a funky quarter. I talked to customer service about it and asked about when the 10/31 SF set orders would be shipped. The guy gave me the impression they wouldn't be received till sometime in November. Either he's blowing smoke up my arse or there is no way the mint will be shipping before the end of October. I remember the 75th Anniversary set was shipping for weeks and that was only 100,000 sets.

Id be shocked if those shipped before November especially if theyre being minted now. My past experience with the mint has always been expect things a week or two later than the website says at minimum

Will only the first shipment sent out on July 27th receive the First Strike designation from PCGS? Do you all feel that this set is worth being graded? Any thoughts? Thanks!

Worth being graded if you can hit some 70s, not worth the extra money for FS/ER. The first shipment depending on how long it takes are the only ones you can open up and cherry pick before sending in to be graded and get the 25th label or the fs/er the others have to be sealed

Dude...The 25th Annie label is so over....I assume you mean the San Fran set label

..and...NGC just announced that you have to submit an equal number of PF's AND RP's in order to get the SF set label...no sending in just the pf's....(maybe from the C & C set)

Sorry 75th label and I assume all the tpgs will make you send both coins in if you want the sf set label. Some of that probably is cus of the new set but really to be a set you'd have to have both anyway so they are kind of saying true to the label aside from the obvious that they'll make more money instead of just getting a bunch of RPs sent to them

..and I should add NGC has gone with the Mint on this one and is NOT using "75th" anything....it is a San Fran Eagle Set

"All Reverse Proof 2012-S Silver Eagles will receive the pedigree by default."

So the RP gets it no matter what, they are just preventing an accidental excess of PF getting the label due to the second set coming out...

So looks like PCGS is going to mis-label these as 75th anniversary sets.

Eh their just going with what the mint is doing. It is the 75th anniversary of the new building and one of the reasons why were getting this massive influx of S mint products this year. Theyre just calling it for what the mints logic in the first place was.
