Lucky you!
Pity you can't wear this often, because the gold is so soft. 18 ct. gold for rings is much harder and is alloyed with a wide range of alloy metals to harden the gold.
It appears the this coin has been hard soldered at the clasp points, so it is destined to stay in it's bezel forever. Just wear and enjoy. But not often.

Here I am.......... And I just have a few words to say about all this.
1st..... Whoever had this done to the coin (or bought it this way) probably thoroughly enjoyed wearing it every chance they could. What pleasure they must have gotten from it.
2nd..... Not all people think about coins (gold or silver) the same way. I have a 1/10th panda that I bought in a pagoda-designed bezel ring. I have worn that thing daily for so many years and I still get compliments on it. Does it need cleaning? Yes. Are there some nicks on it? Yes. Would I have preferred it to be in a case or 2x2 for the last 28 years? NO.....don't even have to think twice about it. I got and still do get too much enjoyment wearing it instead of it being hidden somewhere.
You know....some people have to think about life and their possessions a little differently then they do. Everyone will die......you will never know when. So, if you get satisfaction by hiding what you like because you want to preserve it for another 100 or so years, guess what? Chances are whoever gets your collection will not appreciate it like you do. They could sell it for face value or use it for target shooting. You will never know what becomes of it.
So, continue to enjoy your hidden collection and take it out every now and then and peek at it. As far as me.......... I will wear whatever coin jewelry I want while I am still alive to enjoy it. Once I am gone, there is nothing I can do to protect them OR watch over them.
Don't blame women for wanting to wear something pretty. It was probably a MAN that bought it for her anyway (and we only guess to his ulterior motives).

It looks like the coin is just held in by the bendable tabs. It could be removed but the outer ring may have damaged the edges where it has rubbed from the small amount of movement due to wearing it. I agree it is a wonderful find. Keep lookin. Notice I stayed out the the woman thing. Been married for 44 years and still haven't learned enough to make the right comment at the right time.

I'm not complaining, just found out today from a diamond expert that the 43 stones around the coin are indeed real diamonds! And the setting is white gold!! Wow! I am a man, but I can't see how the coin was damaged by adding diamonds! I doubt it decreases the value!!

I was wondering about that. That is really awesome. What are you planning on doing with it? It really is a beautiful piece of jewelry.

The bexel has the diamonds, which is a separate piece from the coin. They were designed to fit together. What may be damaged is the outer rim of the coin where it sits inside of the bezel.
Since, both peices were initially married to be ONE piece, then taking them apart now would leave the bezel without a mate AND the coin possibly damaged. But, it is no big deal because they were meant to be "showcased" as one piece, so they should stay that way.
Very nice piece........ I would show it off on a thick gold rope chain.

I have been looking at that closely Sel_69l. Instead of soldering, it could just be the prong is bent and the light is bouncing off of it. Normally when coins are put in a bezel, it is only the prongs holding it in....no soldering involved at all. So, I am leaning towards it being a bent prong.
