I know little about metallurgy, but in a previous post on a similar topic the member Ugly suggested this phenomenon was caused by high temperature heat treatment. At a high temperature, the copper can be apparently turned to brass. He said you could make such a coin by placing a regular cent on a high temperature wood stove.

Alternatively you could ask SPP if he would do an XRF analysis on it to determine the metal composition.

no RCM logo.......will try post a few pics later..........still can't figure how high temperature treatment with the small amount of copper over zinc would produce a metalliac looking coin..........cheers

Here in the U.S. we find a few copper plated zinc core Lincoln cents that look brassy in color. Read this http://koinpro.tripod.com/Brass.htm

copper + zinc = brass. high heat will turn the copper plating to brass

To be blunt: Because you couldn't take 15 seconds to write a title. Anytime the Staff sees a topic title with just a question mark for the entire title you can rest assured it will just be deleted. We are growing weary of clarifying titles.
