Alright here is another one, since I found this forum I have been going through all my accumulated "errata" coins ...

So here we go. under left wing I see the outline of another leaf from the wreath below ... I was not able to find a listed doubling of this kind ... so then I though perhaps it is something between the laminate (i.e. between the core and the outside cladding) or perhaps a bubble developing from improper lamination, but it definitely has the outline of a leaf... hope the pictures suffice. Thanks for your input.

Looks like it might be a die clash.

Yeah I suppose so, only thing was that I couldnt picture how that would have happened since that portion of the die is lower that the foot of the eagle, I though that if it was a clash then I would have seen other portions of the die too... rather than just a faint outline of one leaf ... but I'll give that some more thought. Have you seen one like it or similar of that years mintage?

The mark is above the platform the eagle is standing on and I don't see any design of the obverse there though from Coop's photo.

Yeah, I agree. That is why I thought it was part of a leaf. But looking at it again I dont really see it as having the shape of that either. That lead me to thinking perhaps it is a lamination error (i.e. something between the copper and nickel layers, or some foreign particle between the layers causing a bubble).

I no one has seen the likes of it then it must be double struck or a lamination error rather than a true DD, right?

I create overlays to show the OBV ^ REV dies in the position they would be in during a die clash. Sometimes they answer the question as to what some anomoly is on a coin. Theyare two images with one rotated 180 degrees and flipped horizontally and reduce the opacity 50%. Layered over each other.

I have many and add more as they are needed. The mint site has great images to make these overlays.
