My Canadian Neighbors from Wa State

Im new to this site but not to coins, but have been away from it for many years. My newest Canadian Coin Guide is dated 1958. How the prices have went up.

I have a Gold proof 1$ that I dont know alot about
Manitoba Gold 1 dol on reverse and Victoria lettered and Maple Leaf and 1898 date on obv. Any info would be helpful. I heard they were made by a dealer in Winnepeg in 1948 era
Thanks Gary

--garys64wildcat-- Welcome to the site.
---1958! You really need to get an updated data base. That book is 2 years older than me and is probably a collectors item, like me!. Yes, they have gone up!

Thank You for the help. I was told they were in 18k or 22k and that the RCMP seized a bunch of these coins as illegal to own. I traded a 86 or 1887S Morgan 1$ for it. If there is any other info out there, I would be interested in any and all available.

Apparently Bruce Catalogue # 11 & 12 for 1/2 & 1 dollar respectively... I am not familiar with said catalogue.

http://www.mcsearch.info/search.htm...iew_mode=1#1

I passed on a few of theses some years back as they were pried from some sort of mount... real badly, and the seller wanted a pristine price for them.

>>> edit... halfway down this page VVV

I knew that if I asked a Canadian for help I could get an answer. It seems like I have found an excellant forum for the hobby. I have always had a thing about Canadian and US coins and hope to get back into working on my sets.
Thanks again for the help. I have some other coins to ask about and get used to posting pictures.
