I found this in my stash the other day. I found it some time ago and forgot about it.
Anybody know what happened to it?

I am not positive but it looks like a lamination error.

I was thinking lamination too. You cant really see it in the pictures, but the cracks span the entire width of the coin. As you can see, one end is almost peeling off.

Lamination. The lines of laminations usually run in a straight line across the coin. Sometimes they happen on both sides of the coin. Usually the ones with the delaminated area is more desirable.

Lamination errors are tough to find. Here's a goodie I did find.

You mean its better when the chunk that is peeling off is still attached?

Im not very savvy in this area.. would this coin be worth much of a premium?

According to the 2012 RedBook a Jefferson with Lamination is worth $20...but that might be the average...Depending upon the size or significance of the Lamination it could be more or less.

No it is not better pulled off. But sometimes the lamination is just more interesting to collectors when the lamination is exposed and the lamination is still there.

I'm not trying to steal your post baysinger626. Thought I'd post what some laminations look like. By the way coop, any significant value for my cent? It looks really wild to me.

toat lamination collector, I would think it would be desireable. When I was selling here on CCF on auction the common laminations broght 50 cent to a dollar. But yours is a large on. Maybe $5 to someone who really wanted it. You just never know will you put a coin out there what it might bring?
