I've seen topics here that list favourite coins that contributors own so what about a selection of desired & hopefully attractive coins that you wish you could own but are never likely to afford. Other than the 1930 penny & 1923 Halfpenny, for me, this would be, the following:- Gothic Crown Wreath Crown Waitangi Crown Type 1 Sydney Mint Sovereign Sometimes it's nice to dream but at other times it's just frustrating. What do you wish you could have?

Not really sure about that one. I'm rather happy with what I've got so far. Naturally, like many others, would like to have a roll of 1913 Liberty Head Nickels. Or a roll of 1894S Liberty Head Dimes.

If they are pic's from your collection I am soooo jealous I think the Gothic Crown would be on every serious collectors wish list, fantastic design so elegant But way above my pay grade

that Gothic Crown is one of the most beautiful coins I've ever seen. For me, it would be a set of AU/MS 18th century American coins.

I don't know about the Waitangi crown, but I probably have a wealth crown and I know I have a Gothic crown. I don't have the Australian penny or half penny because I do type. I know I don't have the sovereign because I don't collect gold.

You have great taste Sovereign Debt - I'd love to add a gothic crown but given the limits of my budget, I'd probably have to settle for a gothic florin. Otherwise I wouldnt mind owning:
- 1907 High Relief double eagle (Generic I know, but they just look too good) - US Bust dollar. - Any 18th century US gold piece

I have actually owned a '55 SOVEREIGN, (VF), had to be sold as part of my first colllection to pay for the deposit on mu first house. THAT was paid off in 1990.
Also had an Adelaide Pound (VF), and a '56 Half sovereign, gF, they were part of the sold collection. About 100 Roman coins also included, with 2 aureii and a solidus.

One of the relatively few actual aims of my collection is a type set of one-copeck coins - with as many different types in it as possible. I'm currently at 15, from an Ivan IV wire copeck to the modern Russian issue of 1997-2009, and as I currently say I'm only missing three types* from 1750-2010 - minus the rarities. Those "rarities" being? Well, anything with a four-figure (or more) price tag. That is, four figures in our currency; you would know that amount as about $100. (In specific: 1755-1757 cloud and 1804-1810 ring. OK, the latter is actually $200 - still a rarity.) As for coins from other countries: two of my other aims are having a coin from as many as possible US mints or from as many as possible British reigns. The latter was quite nicely going along until it hit the "wall" of George IV and William IV (both relatively short reigns, and I already have two coins of George III). I've since acquired a sixpence of William IV, but George IV remains a hole - and as I've also acquired a fourpence of William III, there's now a lot of similar "holes" to fill in the 17th century... The former, however, had been stuck at the obvious P-D-S trio for about a year now. The main problem here is, of course, that a full set has to include Charlotte and Dahlonega, which are prime examples for this thread (Carson City also tends to be pricey even for the "common" 1876 dimes, but no New Orleans is just pathetic. And I've never seen a West Point coin priced at anywhere near melt, either.) *) 1757-1761 Elizabeth monogram, 1948-1956 sixteen coils in COA, 1957 fifteen coils in COA

The other day, I was shown a coin that was worth $10,000. I was so shocked that something that little could be worth so much. I was also envious because there was no way that I was ever going to spend that much on a coin - a house or car yes.
Coins to me are a form of recreation and doable within my means, that coin was definitely not within my means. But I sure wish that I could have had it anyways.

I believe the most expensive coin I've ever seen seriously advertised was worth $20,000 - a 1799 Turban Head Gold Eagle in a PGM AU-53 slab (I don't think I've ever heard of PGM, and for that matter I don't think the Sheldon scale even has an AU-53 - but maybe someone here knows better).

Thanks to all who've replied so far. I can see that I haven't clarified my aim in proposing this topic. I was hoping that people would post pictures of their most desired coins so that we could all experience a widening of knowledge of what was beyond our usual collecting searches & interests. So if you can, would you please show some pictures of the coins you've mentioned if they haven't already had images in this thread in which case, just mention them.
The coins I have pictured are NOT in my collection & except for the wreath crown, are never likely to be although I'd love to have them all.

You can have what ever coin turns your crank, the key is, you have to learn "how to sacrifice" the things you want in order to get the things you love! Glenn

I have actually had a few World famous rarities actually siting in the palm of my hand:
1.) A Kangaroo Office 2 Ounce (the British Museum example) 2.) An octagonal and a round $50 Dollar Half Union pair, examined at a view day for a major auction.

Actually, they made two (only) gold proofs of the Gothic Crown.
