Yes, very often on the coins on the outside ends of the rolls, and if the coins are loose enough to rotate against each other, you can find them on coins inside the roll as well.

There might a few in there worth separating. Shotgun rolls can sometimes be scary.

here's my suggestion: Don't open it. If all of them are bad like the ones showed in the picture, they would have absolutely no value until years later. Keep them in the roll to have them remained uncirculated.

What is the difference to keep the whole roll or separate them if all of them are bad like the outside one? The 50 Cent pieces are clearly uncirculated if they remain in the roll. If you open it, and if all of them are horrible, dealers and buyers would think that they're circulated. Is this clear?

You would like to think that if coming direct from the mint they could reduce the effects of roll machines. If you did purchase it directly from them I would see if you could send them back.

I have sent the image and invoice copy to the mint customer service and the customer service said the mint could refund the invoice amount plus return shipping fee to me, but the mint has no additional 2011 50 cent roll available for replacement. Therefore, I decide to keep the roll because it is better than nothing.

Removing them from the roll you will lose no value. A ding here and there is expected from purchased coins (unless otherwise specified). Personally I open all my rolls so that I can choose the best of the bunch, then sell the rest in sets of 5 or 10 (2000-2012, or 1995-1999). I easily make back the cost of the rolls and then some, regardless of the condition. So I wouldn't not open a roll if the top coins have marks because you're not losing any value (your probably gaining value just selling them separately anyway).

This statement is flawed, because it leads one to assume that 2011 50-cent pieces were released into circulation. The odds of finding a circulated piece is almost impossible. ALL 2011 50-cent pieces you see are either from these rolls or they are from wedding sets, etc., whereby someone has freed the coin from its plastic prison. Therefore, all those coins, are deemed uncirculated. If they are really baggy or MS-60, then yes, most dealers only pay face value for them.

Open it for crying out loud. Sometimes there are too many quick replies here from people that have only a little knowledge. That mark is from the machine rolling the end of the paper over. Only happens on the end coins. The other coins will be fine. Call me a liar if they aren't.
