1992 Kangaroo Dollar - Coin Community Forum

airgem Valued Member Australia 369 Posts	Posted 04/20/2012 11:05 pm While having a look through the RAM website I came across a listing for 1992 Kangaroo Design Dollar with a mintage of 0.008 million. As far as I knew there wasn't any, and is not listed in Renniks or McDonalds. Does anyone know if they actually exist? trout1105 Pillar of the Community Australia 7096 Posts	Posted 04/20/2012 11:23 pm I have never before heard of or seen a 1992 mob of roos dollar coin, I was under the impression that the Barcelona Olympics design was the only one for 1992 the web site also states that No $1 coins were produced in 1987. No $1 coins were produced in 1989, 1990 or 1991. Yet they produced mint proof and mint sets sets with the mob of roo design in these years. mrcruise Pillar of the Community Australia 552 Posts	Posted 04/21/2012 05:09 am No mob of robs dated 1992 were minted as far as my research has shown The mintage mentioned on Ram site most likely refered to coins minted for the "1992 The Australian One Dollar Five Coin Set" Though minted in 1992 coins had original dates and are hence re-strikes (except of course for the barcelona coin)..set includes 1984 + 1985 mob of roos, 1986 peace, 1988 centennary + 1992 barcelona Report this Post to the Staff

It's lucky I didn't because when I checked Macca's book it confirmed that these coins were in fact re-struck in 1992. Hmm I might have to get myself one of these sets Report this Post to the Staff

The RAM website is in error, we've had confirmation of this via email direct from the RAM.
