Calm down. Just have some questions lol. I've always been told a dirty coin is better then a cleaned coin. I understand that harsh chemicals and whizzing make a coin worthless but I've seen people talking about acetone for cleaning. I've searched high and low for answers in the forum and maybe I've missed it. I've also found some websites but you never know if it's just some guy wanting to see how many people he can get to ruin their coin collections so I'd rather hear what people here have to say. Is acetone truly safe? How do you do it step by step? Will it lower the value in anyway? What will it clean off the coin? Is there a better way to clean them? I collect cents and my main concerns are the green stuff( I forget the name ) and other dirt associated with circulated cents you know the junk and gunk from purses and such. The green stuff seems to be spreading in my plastic coin tubes and I fear my collection will be ruined. Little green dots have even formed on the sides of some of the tubes Any help would be great and I would be forever in your debt

Acetone is good for removing greasy fingerprints, glue, and other soluble crap. It will not remove the "green stuff" (Verdigris) from copper, or toning, and will not brighten a coin. It does zip to the coin surface although some have reported issues with copper. It works best on silver and gold coins.

Has anyone tried Verdi-care? It's supposed to be the cure all end all to verdigris. I'm always afraid to try new things that seem to solve old problems with such e ASE

Verdi-care seems to get rave reviews from the forum. I personally have never used it but I haven't "cleaned" any of my coins yet.

Verdi-Care works extemely well. Badthad, one of our forum members, was the inventor which is why you have seen mainly positive reviews for it on this forum.
