I am being dropped from my Powerseller and Top Seller status because of 2 national holidays.

Customer A buys 4 items on Saturday, pays Saturday night, Monday is a National Holiday, the item is shipped Tuesday at 10am. Why should they be able to leave me a 1 star for shipping time?

Customer B buys an item on Wednesday, pays on Sunday, Monday is a National Holiday, item is shipped at 11am on Tuesday. Once again, why should they be able to leave a 1 star for shipping time?

I'm writing all of this while I'm on hold with ebay.

I'm being told "we can not remove those ratings, because that is the buyers opinion." It's their opinion that I should have shipped the item while the post office was closed?

Anyone have any advice on how to get this removed?

Not sure there is much you can do but it sucks that ebay is a one-way street for feedback. I had a buyer who inquired about two items. I told him I would combine shipping for him and refund the difference if he overpaid by paying for each item individually. Somehow the ebay calculator told him to pay an amount that was $3 and change under what the post office charged (box was normal sized, normal amount of packing material). I sent a followup email to the buyer to let him know that the ebay calculator was off and how I would eat the shipping difference. He still gave me a 1 or 2 for shipping costs even though I subsidized a portion of it. It's frustrating that sellers are becoming more and more helpless due to ebay's stupid policies.

Didn't realize I made this an event, my apologies.

2 hours on the phone with them, and I will be losing my Powerseller and Topseller status for 1 year because I will have 5 1 star reviews on my dashboard for 12 months. With a little over $92k in sales last year, losing my 20% discount is going to hurt just a bit.

I was told ebay considers holidays as business days! Since my items weren't shipped in what they consider to be within 1 of their "business" days, there is nothing they can do to stop the buyer from leaving 1 star. Even though the items were received within 4 days of shipping.

As for Customer B, because USPS never updated that the package was delivered within 4 days, I did not qualify for an automatic 5 stars and they were able to leave the 1 star. (BTW they gave me the positive feedback and star ratings 3 days after the package was sent, isn't that enough proof the item was received? Their positive feedback said "item is perfect, thank you")

ebay's advice - Direct from "Tyler the Supervisor"
I should look into a different delivery service for shipping. They suggested I use UPS to ship my $4-$12 items.
I should look into ways to speed up my shipping process, even though every purchase made within the last year was shipped within 1 business day.
I should increase my auction and buy it now prices, get rid of my $2 shipping price and offer free shipping. (May actually consider this one)

Hope this helps others who may have had an issue like myself.

Mods can you change this to a topic not an event?

what if you buy your shipping through paypal then a tracking number gets posted right away for the buyer to see then you just drop the package off at post office when it opens

That is what I do, use paypal "print shipping label", no issues as of this message. But I am far from a powerseller/top seller.

I hate the ebay shipping calculator. I put up some old TV series DVDs and the ebay website doesn't even allow you to charge a price that covers shipping with delivery confirmation. Then they take a portion of your shipping fee anyway. At the very least you should be able to charge what it will actually cost you to ship the item and not go off of ebays 2004 shipping prices

Selling on ebay is very frustrating. I do sell stuff - though not coins (I only buy coins :) )

I have learned just to expect a certain amount of problems, and unnecessary refunds because buyers "say" there is an issue - funny how most of them say "oh well I'll just keep it anyway" when you offer them a full refund. It's really not possible to maintain a 100% perfect record for everything because some buyers are just nuts and you don't know it untill you're involved in a transaction...

That's my rant over now too :)

Every item that gets purchased through ebay gets shipping printed through ebay. This was the 1 thing that I liked about ebay. Not having to input all my tracking numbers, and you do save quite a bit now that Delivery Confirmation is free with priority and $.19 for first class.

I had some time to cool off last night and figured out why this is bothering me so much.
This is how I see it, correct me if I'm wrong...
When I put up an auction, I list my shipping guidelines. (1 day shipping, 2-6 day delivery expected)
When the customer is wins/buys the auction, they are basically agreeing to the shipping guidelines among other things.
If I adhere to what I promised(ship within 1 business day arrives within 2-6 business days), why does the buyer still have the ability to give a 1 or 2 star rating when what was promised was delivered?
This is what I think needs to be changed. If the seller follows their guidelines, the buyer should only be able to give stars 3-5. If I don't ship within the 1 day and it's not there within the 6, the buyer should be able to give whatever review they wish.

Every ebay rep kept saying that these were opinion based forums and they can't censor the buyers opinion. I understand that for communication and item description, but shipping time and shipping price(if reasonable) aren't opinions. I was told even if you charge $.01 to ship an item, the buyer has the right to give you a 1 star.

Just add your shipping cost to whatever you sell and ship for free that will save all your hassles the buyer cannot leave low rating for shipping then.

They can still leave the low rating on shipping time, just not shipping cost.
