Hello friends.

I wanted to share this Constantine coin with you as I find it particularly interesting. It is nearly fully silvered and has excellent detail with lovely surfaces.

To many ancient collectors, it may seem like just another boring and common "VOT" type. It's not a classic Greek or Roman republic coin, it's just another LRB....sigh. I beg to differ, and find this era to be quite appealing and interesting.

I found an excellent thread on the meaning of the "VOT" types which I would like to share.

I agree with you. Was was a very important time in history. If it wasn't for Constantine Christianity may have never came to be and we would all still be pagans. This is a very nice coin, well struck and centered with little or no wear.

That is indeed a nice coin, great details. If it looks as good in hand, as it does in the photo.

This may be OT, but Constantine only made Christianity the 'official' Roman religion. It had flourished, despite some very intense Roman opposition, for some 200+ plus years. Not making a religious comment, only from a historical perspective it's interesting to theorize how Christianity may have developed without Rome's involvement.

Very nice Biancasdad - we often forget these would have looked silver when made, along with a number of other common issues that usually appear bronze when we buy them.

Pretty nice coin biancasdad, nothing boring about it

It was actually Theodosius I that made it the official religion of the empire, in 380 AD. But by then it was already the dominant and favored religion of the people and the emperors (with Constantine I's help of course).
