Why would you put it on the forum before the auction is finished ? Please refrain from doing so in the future. Some of us who don't have deep pockets may have been bidding on that coin and now there will possibly be 100's of other bidders who had no interest before.

The only reason to list an ongoing auction is if the seller has misrepresented the coin such that he/she has described the item such that the buyer will be fooled into paying for a rare item when it is the common type (e.g. selling an 1891 cent and calls it a small date when it's a large date)

sorry guys.. it was not my intention to cause harm.
However, I was a bidder on the coin , actually the first bidder.
second was our "friend" ... D......s
and , if you wanted to bid.. you could have. it went for little money...
so, your objection and , or criticism is not warranted, as the coin is worth considerably more than what it sold for!
But, I take the hint...
I bet If I had sent you a PM you would not have complained.... and NO I have nothing to do with the seller.
any more want to give me heck for a little innocent mistake? Go for it.. it is not my best day today.. But there was a highlight...
bought a 1871 1 cent obv 1 for $20...
Rest in Peace

I've always wondered why some posts about a good deal auction, especially if they're bidding.

Just seems counter productive, is all.

^ I would have to guess that that is NOT the coin that she bought. Her post says that it was a 1 cent.

DBM.. fact is I do not buy from this guy! period..
He has me blocked for over 5 years for asking for a refund after he sent me a fake German New Guinea coin. Offered to let me have it for half price.
then suggested I did not know German Colonial coins...(only had a complete set plus of DNG coins at that time and still bought every one I got my hands on.
then a guy like asyn comes along telling I do not know anything....
Had I seen this 25 cent, I would have past it to someone else.
why did you not buy it... worth around 200 or so...
I am waiting for a much better one...and it will come... one day.......

biggfred,

why advertise it?
why not... this coin went cheap.. and anyone could have bid, not just chatted about it.
I had my bid..and that was all it was worth to me as I have already better.
So, why did you all not bid instead of complaining when someone gives you a tip.?
it is all about limits what one wants to pay. what happens after that.. who cares.
And again, I had NOTHING to do with and do NOT know the seller!

Coingirl, I fear you have missed the point. There are your coin collectors with deep pockets and others like me who have almost no pockets at all. Some of us spend hours a day trying to find low cost coins to upgrade our collections, and resell the lower grade one, or find bargains to pay the bills. This is one example where I might have won this coin and been able to resell one of my lower grade ones.
You state that it didn't matter that you posted it because the coin sold at a low price. Low price to you maybe. Without you referring to it, I possibly could have won it at $45 or $46, etc., thus making a few dollars extra.
Just because you were not that interested in it ("and that was all it was worth to me as I have already better") doesn't justify your action. I imagine from your attitude that you are able to travel to many coin shows and think nothing about paying full TRENDS prices for coins, and send everything for certification. I, on the other hand, need to pay as little as possible and have never sent a coin for TPG.
Rest in Peace

Good points on both sides. I think that part of the discussion should end.

Terry and Wade, I am not here to start a war or a pi...ing contest.
But, I totally disagree.Terry, what you bring up here is totally not called for and very hypothetical.
You could have bid on this coin... had you known it was there. Complaining is not the way to go.
the coin is about a $200 coin trends, maybe more. so even YOU had tons of room to at least bid on it.
As you can see, the bidding steps were very close...
with your other comments...if you really want to know you can PM me..
But I tell you this... I have only been to two coin shows in my life...both in Vancouver a few years ago.
so, How do I get my coins? well terry for one, I do not complain when someone gives me a tip... I act on it after evaluating it.
terry, you can Imagine whatever you choose. those who know me on this forum ONLY know me from this and(the now close to gone) and another forum.
I have made quit a few "internet -coin" friends through the forums... and also enemies.
To bad Terry, I do not see your name on my friends list yet.
I will not continue with this issue any more, but just wanted to clear the air.
Now Wade, get the popcorn going and beer flowing....(nice wine for me)
