Poll Question
We all know you've got a stash of coins, whether it's large or small.

Some of you are no doubt the equivalent of vacuum cleaners when it comes to removing certain coins, varieties or dates from circulation.

Others when at auctions, dealers or online, just can't settle for one of that particular coin, because it needs company, and the one that's going is so good...

So let's hear it - what is the largest number of one particular coin that you've got?

Poll Choices
 Only 1 - Honest ;)
 2 to 5 - I need a few spares
6 to 10 - Just picking up a few extras
 11 to 25 - I'm salting a few of these away
 26 to 50 - Under-rated at present
 51 to 100 - Going for gold!
 Over 100 - I'm cornering the market :p
Over 1000 - I could open a bank at this rate lol

70 to 80 silver dimes, pre '64.
Had a rush of blood some time ago. Cost me 20 cents each, but I did pull out 4 x wartime FSB's, and a 1919 FSB. Couple of barbers as well, but well worn.
Silver was about $15 / oz. at the time.

Also have 20 or so pure nickel 2 Francs coins.

My largest is 79 x 2006 Lincoln Cent, but that is only because someone sent me a heap back in 2006. Other than that, I have managed to pull 52 x Bradman 20 cents from circulation.

When you say one particular coin - you mean like a 1972 5c, or a 2011 20c. If you do, then I am outclassed by the people with over 1000 of a single coin type!

Not a coin, but a year. My wife's collection of birthyear 1954. Over 100 now, and with the magnificiant Royal visit florin & medal & others from trout1105, opened the door to actively include silver.
BTW, dont let the cost & time it takes to arrive to shun trades & other deals with the guys/gals down under. It's always been worth the wait.

I have a small herd/mob of horses LOL Centenary Florins,i did have 25 of them at one stage but sold some to the knackery LOL & only have 10 now.
I have multiples of many coins in my collection mainly because I see a better grade coin than the one/s I have so I buy it with the intention of selling the lower grade coin/s but it just hardly ever seems to happen.
One off errors are a very prized part of my collection though.

I need a long term rehab right after detox I suppose.

DUPLICATES
Hoarders-Anonymous-;

If you said series, you can guess what I have a couple thousand of but within that series I certainly have 20 or more of some that are duplicates of the same date and mint mark aside from my main Jefferson set. So I could cast a poll vote a couple different ways. I did post a vote for 11 to 25 but I have duplicate BU solid date rolls of stuff too.

It has been however, at least 3 months since my last nickel! I could relapse at any time!

I don't keep duplicates, of anything. If I happen to buy a duplicate (usually because I've forgotten I already had one) and the duplicate is higher grade than the one I have, I swap it out and get rid of the old one. I have a boxful of duplicates sitting around here someplace, but they're just waiting to be gotten rid of; they definitely don't "count" as part of the collection.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

I think I have over 1000 2010 50c now, but I will be returning most of them to the wild at some time (promise!).
I have put them aside while they are still in good condition and will be looking for any unusual ones.

The poll is very limiting; over 1000 as the top is for newbies.
Some of us have over 10,000 coins from a single year and denomination. My drug of choice is the 1920 penny (over 70 different obverse dies from 5 different derivative hubs means I can keep my searching addiction going for years).

The 1988 $1 Bicentennial got about 22 got all from circulation mostly from the pokies. I just love the design of it keep on trying to get mint rolls but always get outbid on the last second on ebay.

Also about 3 years ago I have stopped spending every 5c I got now I have over $250 worth. Went through it last month and found 6 1972 5c coins. Also I have started collecting UNC mint rolls/bags from every year.

I prefer pre-decimal coins (huge fan of the shilling!), but certainly have large numbers of particular coins from the decimal era. Most bulkedly:

50 x Full Circlation 5c Piece Sets (1966-2010, minus 85/86) in pages.
- figure these might be worth $50+ some day. I have full uncirculated and proof sets hidden away which won't be sold. The circulation sets were put together as a kill-time kind of activity more than anything.

35ish x 2010 PNC Taxation 20c (Figured these being first numbered PNC issues that it would be worthwhile stockpiling, majority of these are consecutive).
- Issue price was $20, I think average spend for each of these including postage was $23.50 - first published book price is $40 and scare on ebay now. Wanted to end up with 150 of them - that is, 1% of total produced, but I don't really care to do that now.

100 x 20/50/$1 sets from 2005. I purchased 5x rolls of each in 2005, and put them all in 2x2. I will be selling a large number of these off soon, go figure mintage would be ridiculous. I wish I had kept them in rolls, was a new-to-coin-collecting error. I'd look at book price of rolls vs individual coins and I wanted to up my $$ value of collection.
