got the loonie and twoonie about 2 weeks ago. mine looks a little more circulated than I would like, but I still put them in 2x2 lol. how was the condition of yours?

p.s. The parking meters DO NOT accept these new coins, it was all over the news, many people got screwed because they are still giving tickets despite the fact !

I just got a roll of the new toonies from my local TD bank. Now I'm trying to decide if I open it up. I'm tempted just because the same side of the coin is out at both ends so I can't see the cool textured stuff. The bank didn't have any of the new loonies.

Has anyone found anything out of the norm on the new 2012 coinage?

If you've read some of my older posts, you will see I live in an area in Ontario, where we are usually the last to receive new coinage.
Well someone made a mistake.
My wife got a couple each of loonies & toonies while shopping.
Thank you whoever sent these new coins to my part of the country.

About a week ago I got brand new loonies and toonies, neither had virtually any wear or tear, so I stashed them away, never to be circulated. There's enough of a difference in weight that you can tell they're different without looking at the laser markings or the virtual image in the toonie.

The toonies look very weird around the edges, almost as if they tried to burnish them into place. And the loonies have the strangest color to them. Almost arcade-token-looking. They probably will not tone well. They ought to use alloys and not plating for circulating coinage, IMHO. I'm not liking them.

as I've said before, the new toonies look too heavy with all the micro engraving and counter-fit stuff

Don't open up. (It's only my advice, please don't take it as an imperative). They are machine rolled, and they can be horrible. dealers won't buy horrible coins unless they're in original rolls.
