Hey everyone I found a Kennedy Hlaf Dollar that seems to have and error around the rim any chance someone can tell me what I have?

Well it seems like it may just be PMD (post mint damage) however I'm not really great with error coins, so Ill let someone else confirm.

Perhaps someone trying to make a double headed half dollar or something.

Looks like someone ground part of the rim off on a lathe.

I believe this was done on a metal lathe, I can also see the jaw marks on the non-machined section (coins edge)...

I found a euro coin that was really thick and wouldnt go into the change counter at WF that had this same damage. It spun around about a million times and lost part of the rim on one half. This could have been from a change counter that wasnt set up for half dollars.

Somebody may have been making a Magician's coin and messed up part-way through the process, then just spent the damaged coin.

It appears as though this coin is missing the ridges/I.e. collar. I would suggest searching for coins missing collars or ridges and see what you find. Good luck!
