Here are pics.
I'm not a collector. I just found this coin and I'm trying to find out if it's anything special. Can any one tell me what variation this is ? Will anyone guess at it's value after I get it cleaned.

Hi Sybrix, welcome to the froum.
As you are not a collector, the very first rule to learn in coin collecting is "DON'T CLEAN COINS"!!!

I'm not an expert on these coins but someone will answer you more fully and expertly than me. I've seen rims like that on forgeries but will leave to others to value.

Hi Sybrix

There are some real problems with some of the design elements on your coin, there are many things that are not where they should be !! with out even mentioning the color,,

I believe the coin to be a reproduction piece,,of course Iam not an expert with these Gold pieces but I do have a very good source of reference from which to compare.

The latin date MCMVII is 1907
It looks like a copy of the famous gold 1907 High Rim coin

It looks fake to me. It is too large to be the real thing and looking at the rim you can see the line where the 2 halves were joined together.

Welcome to the forum!

I believe your "coin" to be a novelty piece made out of bronze or some copper alloy. The verdigris around the devices shows a corrosion that does not happen with gold, as gold is a noble metal. I believe the line around the center of the edge to be a casting line (this is the seam where the two halves appear to be "joined" together.) It looks to be about 3" across? If so, there were a number of these replicas made as fantasy pieces and are about the size of a drink coaster. There is no problem with cleaning this piece as it really has no numismatic value but can look quite pretty if cleaned up.

Thanks for all of your help.
After surfing the web a little more I notice some problems as well.

It's too big and it has too many stars for this year.
Oh well.

Thanks again.

For those of you interested, these are the "coaster" coins sold at Walmart for $1.25
There are plenty of dealers who offer these large reproductions for around 40 cents each.
