It's been hit/damaged by something while in circulation ... an everyday ordinary coin.

Nice enough photos ... but honestly you should not expect the experts to opine on every normal coin you post.

Sometimes it is a weaker strike. Sometimes it is grease in the die freventing the devices to strike up. Sometimes the die is over polished from a clash. But this is common on some coins. The metal is harder on some coin and striking may vary. But when something is common, it usually doesn't get a second look.

after a few days of posting I have learned a great deal, hopefully you won't see anymore common coins from me in the future.

Just a thought, could a coin counting/wrapping machine cause this? That was my first thought when I seen it.

If it did, then you would see scratches beyond the end of the devices. Usually the scratches from coin wrappers are a little closer to center so it would miss this area.
