Looks damaged to me specifically environmental damage.A lot of Lincolns I find Metal detecting look exactly like this

Or painted. No telling what torture they put cents through. Sometimes they even use a red magic marker. Still worth copper value for it.

I've seen quite a few that color...just environmental damage.
