I just received an email from Whitman Publishing that the new 2008 Edition of the Red Book is now out. This is February of 2007 in case they forgot. They messed up with the production of the 2007 edition coming out about this time last year in 2006 and now instead of a 2007A, or 2007+ or something like that they are saying this is a 2008 edition. This is making that book worthless as a guide for any prices at all. By the time 2008 arrives the entire book will be almost a year old. Possibly if enough people wrote or emailed them about how dumb this is they would stop before they are issuing the 2009 edition this Summer and the 2010 this fall. By Winter of 2007 we could easily have the 2011 edition out.

You must have misread the email because I am looking at the Whitman site right now and it has the date as April 10 which is about the same time every year they come out(mid-spring). It is meant as a price guide for this year, not 2008. The RedBook is always issued with the following years date, been that way since the beginning- the 1st Edition was dated 1947 and came out in 1946. If you are trying to say that multiple Redbooks are going to be published this year, that is just plain wrong. Not really sure what your complaint is, but Whitman is just doing the same thing they do every year

The book is worthless as a price guide anyway.
It's a reference book and little more. Just use it for the pretty pictures.
The prices mean nothing as price fluctuate daily, weekly, monthly.
