Just think if you would have the shop drill a hole in those, throw in a gold chain, you could wear them around your neck!!! Just kidding! Jewelry stores could sure add a lot of business if all of them carried coins! Be a lot more traffic in this area!

I was just thinking this myself the other day. But then I suppose much of the staff probably wouldn't have a clue about coins.

Metalman, were these simply for sale as coins or were they destined for bezels or worse? I just don't get a jewelry store selling coins. Most collectors wouldn't think to look there. At least I would not have until now. Jim

Funny you should say that. The reason I was in there was to get him to repair an 18k gold rope chain I had and to affix a 1921 Morgan that already a hole drilled in it when I got it. The coin I had had a while, and the necklace was a gift to me from my mom 20 or so years ago. Since I had them both, I figured "Why not?"

I am not a copper person, I got this one for my 7070 set. On the NGC board, some say AU and some say EF. Maybe coppercoins can come in here and help out.

I guess the question is: Is it EF45 or AU50........

The thing to remember about coppers is you have to grade them like your name is Scrooge.

In the interest of compromise, I'll call it a nice EF. The '04 isn't the worst strike I've ever seen, either.

Back in the Dark ages when I started Collecting 2 Cents I would call it Ef45 Today ANACS would give it at least a 58 NGC would probably be around 53 and PCGS 55 Either way its a very nice one and if you ever want to part with it let me know.
