I asked my local dealer to call me when they had some $50 face bags of cents in. Today they called and left a message that they had a couple. How much can I expect to pay? They are a very fair dealer with nice coins. Just don't want to have sticker shock when I go in tomorrow.

I'd pass on that unless you really, really know what your buying. Sort of like buying a car without ever seeing it. Or a house without seeing it. And with coins, could be almost anything. Use your money to buy something you know.

Ideally, you want to haggle at .035-.04 cents each to make it worth your while. Always assume that they have been searched of the key dates and major varieties. But they are usually brisk with RPM's and OMM's, I find about 30-50 of those per bag on average.

I got about 20 rolls of cents this past week, because I want to try something else other than my usual Mercury dimes. (*they are expensive when you buy in volume. Sigh*) And judging from all other members who goes through bank rolls, they have gotten good results and it doesn't cost me an arm or leg. So far I have found a few 30's wheat, more 40's and a 1907 Indian in rough shape, can used Verdi-care or something, I think people are cashing in from their piggy banks of yesteryear. The economy isn't doing so good unlike what the government reports. No luck on my $50 dimes from the same bank.

Wouldn't pay more than $200 for sure! I only pay 2-3 cents a wheat when I buy

bigger dealers may pay upwards to 3 cents per piece. expect to pay more than that. most dealers don't have time or care to go through circulated wheats because most people bring them common date junk anyway. If you have a 1909S VDB or a 1914D or a 1922 Plain D would you throw them in a pile of wheaties? Probably not. These coins have been known entities for as long as people have been hoarding wheats- dealers know this and typically don't waste their time.
If you have $200 to spend on a bag of $50 face- then have at it.

Let's see....... a $50.00 "face" bag, at .04 Cents apiece would cost you $200.00. This of course depends on what price they want to sell them to you at. Might be more than .04 Cents. Common dates ?... all of them ? .....well.....that's not a bad deal.......about right to be .03 to .04 Cents apiece for that kind of deal I'd say. But like what has already been mentioned, don't expect any "finds" in there. Already well searched several times over, even if the Dealer hasn't looked through them, the former owners HAVE. I would never expect to get "unsearched" Wheats from a coin shop ! Though there are legetimate scenerios where this COULD happen actually...... I just wouldn't EXPECT it, nor would I use that kind of money to find out....
