So I just bought what I think is a German planchet.
Someone said ICCS doesn't verify even high ms coins now.Is this true and does that mean the German planchet has lost all its value if it cant be verified?

CCCS will still verify them.

No. The difference is not the metal content, the difference is that the Canadian planchets were annealed before striking, and ring/core were assembled and struck in the collar. The German planchets were pre-assembled, and harder to strike properly. The mint had to strike the German planchets with different pressure, which created the surface effect we see today.

I have tested both German and Canadian rings/cores, with the Twoonie expert (who also lives in Ottawa), and they have almost identical compositions.

To answer the other question, value is created by collector demand. So, at Nuphilex, I sold EVERY German planchet I brought, at full trends (I was also the only person selling German planchets). So, for business strike collectors, the demand (and value) is there. Next Nuphilex, I will have CCCS certified MS-64 and MS-65 German Planchets at my table - that will be the real test of demand and value...

Thanks guys for the info.
So SPP-Ottawa, is it better to look at the "core" part of the coin on the surface or the ring area or is it even possible to see a difference when comparing?can you tell a difference?
