Hi Leed, The note looks pretty good, sharp corners,no creases or folds & the radar # is a good one. It would probably get a fair bit of interest being early paper note, not sure what it would achieve but i'd probably pay around $40 but I like a bargain & others might think it's worth more,it's all depends on how much interest there is in the note & who is there & prepared to bid on the day.

Do a search for Phillips/Wheeler $2 notes on ebay, there is a seller called Bullion303, Bullion303 is one of the better note sellers & their prices are pretty much spot on for the current market,it is a buyers market at the moment but it could turn around at any time so i'd be hanging on to them for now if I were you. I tried to put links in the the search I mentioned but the ebay links are'nt working at the moment for some reason.

Leed, some steps for you: Check local prices, generally I suggest ebay, if that's the way you want to sell it. I've found some $2 Pillips/Wheeler (1972) notes all in UNC & they're selling between $23.50 & $33.33 (including postage), have a look http://www.ebay.com/csc/i.html?_nkw...0.m270.l13131) Grade the note accurately 2) Work out both Renniks & McDonalads values & average those (Renniks $110 UNC, McDonalds $90 UNC, Ave: $100) 3) Work out where the real price point is based on this note. 4) List it on ebay or other channels (other channels will maximise the amount you can make rather than paying ebay & Paypal fees). 5) Some dealers will put anywhere between 15-75% markup on radars. I sold some $5 polymer (F to VF) to enworb; 3 for $25 including basic postage which is cheap, but there was not ebay & no Paypal, saving both of us money & headaches. I guess you can make this process as simple or as sophisticated as you want. The main questions you need to answer are: How are you planning on selling it? How much do you want for it? I have interest, but I'd need to see more photos so I could grade it & I'd give you a synopsis of what I'd pay & why. You want to know about notes then I can tell you what you need to know.

How many consecutive notes do you have Leed ? if it's a good run I would also be interested. When I was full on into note collecting Phillips/Wheeler was/is the main notes I was collecting $20 & $5 especially.

Leeds, below is a post I wrote about grading paper banknotes &/or polymers. https://goccf.com/t/110109What sort of shot I can grade quite well from is a shot like what I have put below. Whenever I sell notes online, I take a photo of the front (obverse), back (reverse) & the agled shot which you can see below as it gives a ture indication of the creases, indent, marks etc. I used a shot of a New Zealand paper note, just so you can see what I mean, because it'll give you more of a apples for apples concept, rather than showing you a polymer.

Well if they're UNC, the money makers will be 1967. They'd command a much greater value as being a scarcer issue there'd be much more demand for them (in that case, you may get 1/2 of CV). We're always debating about how much the CV (McDonalds & Renniks) are in comparison to actual prices. The 1976a (& the 1976b) are a great note, but it's more of a note that fewer people chase (unless if they like their varieties & full collections). Ideally how are you looking to sell them?...because the scarcer notes will allow you the best way to dictate some sort of price.

Quote: and only getting under a third of CV I might just have to wait before I sell hmmmmm What are you waiting for, the CV to catch up to the reality of the market, or the market to reach the CV? This is the biggest problem with catalogs. If the prices were absolutely correct the day they were released, they were obsolete long before you looked the coin up. Online guides are far better, IF they are not motivated, and IF they are kept up. When we did 40+ shows a year, I tried to update all inventory values monthly. Once a week, I knew two things: These coins have increased in value. These coins have decreased in value. How? The first group was represented by empty spaces. The latter were being hauled back home. The information, despite costing more than any other info, was still eight hours out of date.
