U use Microsoft Access in their Office suite. You can set up a column for OLE objects and create a link to any picture stored on your PC. I've created an example that you can see at:
http://numismatist.us/tokens.accdb I am not sure but I think you can use it with OpenOffice, the free Office suite if you don't have MS Office.
You will not be able to open the OLE object on your PC because it is not installed on it. But when you create your file, you simply right click on the OLE object configured cell where you want the link, select CREATE FROM FILE, then check the LINK box and hit the BROWSE button to find the image you want to insert, select the image, then hit OK.
