I am leaning towards a EF-45.

One way or another, the TPG will let you know their findings.

Do they send an email of the grade before they ship the coin back?

Some of you guys really think its only XF45? Care to elaborate on why it does not get the AU distinction? I was going to say AU50-55 FH before I saw any responses, but I am a fresh newbie so I don't know much. I'm now very curious to see what the ANACS grade is.
At any rate, it looks great man. Hope you get a nice grade on it since it holds sentimental value.
Side note: since you said you cleaned it lightly with MS70, can you post a couple additional pictures in a more fluorescent lighting? Or maybe in some natural light? Not for details reasons, more for how the surface/luster/toning looks.

Quote: Thanks Jaobler, MS70 is typically recommended to clean a coin. All it does is remove the dirt and grime off the coin from it being in change and circulation. It doesn't do any damage to the coin or shine it at all. MS70 is typically recommended to clean coins by people who don't know enough not to clean coins. The grimy areas of an uncleaned coin block toning, leading to a splotchy look after the cleaning which is a slam-dunk telltale of what's happened. This is quite noticeable on the reverse of your coin, and I will be very surprised if it doesn't come back with a Details grade; it's a $100+ coin which has been turned into a $50 coin.

SuperDave, what if a coin had marks on it from a Sharpie (black "permanent" markers)? Would these still block toning, and thus if cleaned, show patchy/spotty areas when removed?

I agree it looks to have altered surfaces.

I was literally told to use MS70 on nicer mint state coins (hence the name MS70). All I did was dip a cue tip in the MS70 solution, lightly rub it on the front and back of the coin, and then run it through cold water and wipe it off with a white cloth that I use to hold coins. The coin was in extremely nice shape to begin with and didn't have much on it. It just had some very minor oil and grime on the front and tiny on the back.

Sort of disappointed if I spend $38 to have my SLQ graded and the value of my coin decreased..I will just take the coin out of the slab if it gets a details rating...tired of people telling me the wrong stuff. I would have never messed with the coin if I had known all this. There are so many opinions and so many people saying different things that its hard to know what to do.
