There was a Lot of Canadian nickles on ebay yesterday. It had 2 Tombac nickeles in it. It was started at $24.99-- there were no bids. Does this mean that people didn't believe the given details? I am NOT accusing anyone of anything. I am a total ignoramus re all things related to coins and ebay. I just need an explanation for this strange non-event from yesterday. Thanks to anyone who answers.

Sorry, not familiar with the listing but I've done a lot of buying on ebay. :-)

Or nobody noticed it. Or nobody is looking for nickels right now. Or they thought the starting price was too high. Or the pictures were too low res to be able to properly assess the grades.

Thanks so much, Kuh! I feel like a real fool asking this question. I always think that the ebay ads are being scrutinized very regularly by knowledgeable coin sleuths. It never occurred to me that it possibly didn't get noticed!I'm just watching them for self education. Have a good one.

Just in case you have been confused by earlier discussions.... there is nothing that special about 1942 and 1943 tombacs. In fact they are perhaps more common in collector condition than the 1942 nickel because, I suspect, they were kept by people at the time because they were unusual. The only tombac of note is the 1944. And I doubt you will ever see one of those on ebay!

Smallcentguy-Thanks. Yes, I see now that "Tombac '42+43"was specified.Yes--I find all the discussion on here absolutely fascinating--but my head starts to spin at times with all the info.I have to force myself to take breaks. It also helps if I force myself to pick only 1 topic + stick to it.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. have a good day, now!
